Keratoconus is a condition that causes the cornea to thin and change shape over time, which can lead to blurred or distorted vision. While this can feel overwhelming, the good news is that many people with keratoconus can see clearly and comfortably with the right care.

At Swan City Eye Care, we specialize in fitting medically necessary contact lenses for keratoconus, with a particular focus on scleral lenses. These lenses are custom designed to vault over the irregular cornea, creating a smooth optical surface that often delivers significantly clearer vision than glasses or traditional contact lenses. Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they feel once properly fit, even if they have struggled with other lenses in the past.

We work closely with several corneal specialists and surgeons in the area who trust us to manage the contact lens side of keratoconus care. In most cases, insurance recognizes keratoconus as a medically necessary condition, which means coverage for hard or specialty contact lenses is often available.
